Burning joss paper is one of the most important rituals in Chinese traditional culture. Joss paper, also known as ghost money, are sheets of paper made into burnt offerings common in Chinese ancestral worship such as the veneration of the deceased relatives on holidays and special occasions. They are also burned or buried in Asian funerals to bless the spirit of the deceased, ensuring comfort and happiness in their afterlife.

The series of postage stamps contains four major traditional Chinese festivals in order to centralize the content that readers will be able to understand the relationship between each festival and joss paper.
